As Michael walked out of the hospital, his phone started to ring. He glanced at the number and swore. He thought about answering it and changed his mind; he didn’t have anything to say to Nick Bannon. As far as Michael was concerned, Raeann was in this mess because of him. If he wanted to know something about Raeann, then he could call her himself. That’s when he decided to call Chris to make sure, if Nick called him, he wouldn’t answer his calls either.

Michael was so mentally and physically exhausted. He felt as though all the blood and water in his body had been drained, leaving him burned out. He hadn’t slept but a handful of hours since they got to Raeann’s? All he wanted to do was go back to Raeann’s and go to sleep. He should have listened to Chris and stayed in bed. Maybe he would have eventually fallen asleep. He took out his phone and dialed Chris’s number.

“Hi, Chris. What’s happening there?”

“Niki is playing with Julie in the family room. Those two love each other so much. How is Raeann?”

“She’s driving the hospital staff batty. Doctor Jack said she could go home and we’re going to have our dinner party tomorrow, plus three, including the doctor and his family. Raeann can’t be still for a damn minute. She acts like she didn't get shot just days ago. I also wanted to warn you. Nick Bannon must have heard something about Raeann; he has tried calling me. I’m sure he will call you, too.” Michael looked at his phone as it clicked, letting him know someone was calling. “I’m going to shut my phone off for a while.”

“He has already tried calling me, Michael. I don’t want to ever talk to that son of a bitch. He almost destroyed Raeann. If I ever get the chance to see him in person, I’ll deck the bastard. Drive home safely, darling. When you get here, I want you to get some sleep, or you will end up in the hospital. See you two when you get home.”
